Better Standards

My own version of https://github.com/veniamin-ilmer/better-standards.

A lot of standards aren't the best, but people follow them anyway because it's too costly to switch.

Ideal format:

Tradition: What is currently in use, ideally with reference link(s)

Better Alternative(s): What would be better, ideally with reference link(s). Numbered by preference if possible.

Why we haven't switched: Brief description of why we haven't switched.
